Much of his work was used by British Railways, and indeed many of the iconic railway posters of the early to mid twentieth century use his artwork. Steel spent a summer in Ireland in 1937, and held a one person exhibition the next year in the Victor Waddington Gallery on Dublin's South Anne Street.
